Teeth Whitening
A dull smile can hinder your confidence and make you feel too conscious of your facial appearance when you socialize. It can be quite an upsetting feeling, especially if anyone mocks you for your discolored teeth. The most preferred way to get rid of the stains from the teeth and sport a bright smile is through teeth whitening.
What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening is a non-invasive and safe means of getting whiter teeth. It can be performed in-house by a professional dentist or at home by yourself, depending on the teeth’s condition. Some of the popular teeth whitening options are conventional in-house whitening, take-home whitening trays, and laser teeth whitening.
Conventional Teeth Whitening
It is the simplest and widely performed teeth whitening procedure. The dentist uses a whitening gel containing Hydrogen Peroxide, a chemical bleaching agent which is present in almost all teeth whitening products. When the gel is applied and spread on the teeth, it liberates oxygen molecules that enter the structure of the enamel and bleach the staining particles. The procedure can be carried out multiple times to get a higher level of whitening, depending on the severity of staining.
Take-home Whitening
This means of whitening is preferred by patients who have a busy schedule and wish to stay in the comfort and safety of their homes while getting the teeth whitened. Initially, when you visit the dentist, your teeth will be scanned using a hand-held scanning tool. The data obtained will be used to fabricate teeth whitening trays using dental-grade plastic, which you can take home along with a prescribed whitening gel. You can squeeze a small amount of whitening gel into the trays and place them on your teeth. After a few minutes, you may rinse the gel and repeat the procedure as required to get whiter teeth.
Laser Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening using a laser is one of the most advanced and quickest whitening processes. The dentist thoroughly cleans your teeth and applies a photosensitive whitening gel on them. It will be activated using a laser, which helps to speed up the process. Within a few minutes, the gel can be rinsed off, and the procedure would be repeated multiple times. Laser teeth whitening is known to provide excellent and long-lasting results.
